Yes, third.

Calvin’s been a rock on the sidelines, week in, week out. Whether it’s rain, wind, or a freezing Saturday afternoon, he shows up with a flag in hand and the right attitude. Decisions made with confidence, calm under pressure, and always supporting the men’s squad the right way.

He’s an asset to the team and someone we’re lucky to have at the club.

So from all of us: congratulations Calvin, and thank you.

What a way to kick off the New Year!

Our first ever New Year’s Eve party in the marquee pulled in over 150 people from Thrapston and beyond to celebrate together. It was heartening to see so many familiar faces and lots of new ones too. The Top Banana Band got everyone moving, the Pixie Booth captured some brilliant (and hilarious) moments, and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly all night long.

As a football club, we’re all about bringing people together off the pitch as well as on it. This event was a great reminder of the community spirit that makes Thrapston such a special place to be involved in.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and made the evening what it was. We’re also incredibly grateful to all our volunteers who gave up their time to help run the night. And a special mention to AC Binns and Finch Signs for providing services and equipment that helped bring it all together.

A Brilliant Start to Girls’ Football at Thrapston FC

We’ve kicked off something special – and the energy was unreal.

Last Saturday marked the launch of our brand new Thrapston FC Girls Player Pathway, and the first taster session couldn’t have gone better. From the moment boots hit the pitch, the atmosphere was buzzing. A great turnout, brilliant effort from all the girls, and parents lining the sidelines with full support.

This wasn’t just a training session – it was the start of a movement. One that gives young girls the chance to grow their skills, build confidence, and be part of a club that backs them 100%.

Shout-out to the amazing coaches and volunteers who gave up their Saturday morning to make it happen. These sessions don’t run themselves – it’s the dedication behind the scenes that brings the pitch to life.

You’ve helped lay the first foundations for what we know will become a strong and thriving girls’ football programme in Thrapston.

Couldn’t make the first session? No problem. Our regular girls’ football sessions will run every other Monday, 6:30pm to 7:30pm, at Titchmarsh Playing Fields. The next one kicks off on Monday 18 August – and we’d love to see even more girls out there.

We Did It – £400 Raised!

What a brilliant day at Thrapston FC!

Our Family Fun Day on Sunday 3rd August was an absolute success – full of smiles, sunshine (mostly), and a huge sense of community spirit.

We’re incredibly proud to share that together we raised £400 for Breast Friends Northamptonshire, in loving memory of Emma Hunter

From the bouncy castle to the foam slide, the ‘It’s a Knockout’ races to the raffle and BBQ – the turnout was amazing and the energy even better. It was everything we hoped for and more.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came along, donated, helped out, or just joined in the fun – you made this day one to remember. And yes… we did let the kids on the inflatables eventually

Huge thanks also to the fantastic team at Breast Friends Northampton for the vital work they do and for being part of the day.

Meet the Thrapston FC Women Coaching Team for 2025/26

A new season, a new setup, and big ambition for the year ahead.

We’re excited to officially announce the Thrapston FC Women coaching team for the 2025/26 season – a group packed with experience, passion and a clear vision for the future.

Martin Jenkins – Manager
Martin takes the reins after two strong years at the club, already making a big impact behind the scenes. With coaching experience in both England and the US, Martin brings tactical know-how, calm leadership, and a deep understanding of what makes this team tick. He’s the right person to lead us forward.

Jenna Kiely – Assistant Manager
A true Thrapston FC original. Jenna’s been with the club since day one back in 2011 – as a player, a captain, and now, as Assistant Manager. She holds her UEFA C licence and is currently working towards her UEFA B. She brings drive, belief and bags of loyalty. We’re buzzing to see her step up.

Jenna Lusk – First Team Coach
Another brilliant appointment. Jenna joins the coaching team with a UEFA B licence and valuable experience from her time with Peterborough United. A commanding presence on the pitch in recent seasons, she now brings her insight and leadership into the technical area.

With two UEFA-licensed female coaches on the team and Martin at the helm, we’re building something serious. One that pushes standards, champions development, and puts people first.

Big news for the town — girls football is on the way to Thrapston FC.

This summer, we’re offering a girls-only introductory session to help local girls take their first steps into the game. Whether they’ve never kicked a ball before or already love having a kickabout in the park, this is a chance to try football in a fun, relaxed setting with no pressure.

The sessions will be led by a mix of female and male coaches from our youth and women’s teams. It’s a supportive environment, full of encouragement, good energy, and a real love for the game.

Who’s it for?

We’re inviting girls from reception age through to under-18s. If you know someone who might be interested — a daughter, sister, friend or neighbour — now’s the time to get involved.

These sessions are open to all abilities. No trials. No teams to join (yet). Just a chance to play, meet other girls, and maybe find something they want to stick with.

Let’s be honest – this has been a long time coming.

For years, Thrapston Town Ladies, Thrapston Venturas, and Thrapston Town Juniors have each done incredible work in their own space. Each club has built its own identity. Each has given local people a chance to play football, enjoy the game and feel part of something real.

Now, we’re coming together.

As of 2025, all three clubs proudly share the same name and badge – Thrapston FC. One town. One club. United by purpose.

Why now?

Because it just makes sense.

We already share the same values. The same pitches. The same sideline support and community spirit. We’ve always worked alongside each other — now we’re doing it with a clearer, shared direction.

This move allows us to support one another more effectively, pool ideas, and raise standards across the board — while keeping what makes each section unique.

What stays the same?

Each section keeps its own identity.
Each section keeps its own committee.
Each section continues to run in the way that works best for its players, coaches and volunteers.

What’s changing is the way we support each other. This is about cooperation, not control. Shared goals, not shared rulebooks.

We’re aligning under the same badge because we believe we’re stronger when we lift each other up — from juniors to seniors, from men’s to women’s teams.

What we stand for

This move doesn’t rewrite who we are. It reinforces it.

These values sit at the heart of everything we do. And now, they’re stitched into the fabric of every kit across Thrapston FC.

Local football. One town. All in

Big things are happening at Thrapston FC. We’re working hard behind the scenes to bring a brand new 5G training pitch to our club, and now we’ve got some serious backing. Our local MP, Lee Barron, is fully behind the campaign.

Back in January 2025, Lee met with us in Parliament to hear more about what this pitch would mean for our players, coaches and the wider community. He’s now championing our efforts to secure funding and get the right people listening. Having his support is a huge boost.

So why is this pitch such a big deal?

Right now, like many grassroots clubs, we’re at the mercy of the weather. Sessions get cancelled. Matches get moved. Players lose valuable game time. A new 5G surface would give us a reliable, all-weather pitch where football can carry on, whatever the forecast.

And it’s not just about football. Lee summed it up perfectly –  bringing teams together in one space builds community spirit. That’s exactly what we’re aiming for. A shared space where football becomes more than just a game. It becomes a place to belong.

What this means for the club

• More regular training for players of all ages
• Better coaching conditions and long-term player development
• A safer, more consistent playing surface
• Room to grow junior football, women’s teams and local outreach

This isn’t a short-term fix. It’s an investment in the future of Thrapston FC. A way to grow our programmes, bring people together and create something the whole town can be proud of.

What happens next?

We’re currently exploring every possible route for funding. Lee’s backing is helping open the right conversations with councils, sports bodies and potential sponsors. The response so far has been really encouraging.

But we can’t do this alone – and we wouldn’t want to.
